EARLY INTERVENTION program for the MENTAL & Physical wellbeing of our youth
about us
What We Do
Sunshine Coast Adventure Mentoring is a youth wellbeing service that aims to increase participants’ mental and physical health and wellbeing. We mostly run sessions outside and our priority is the emotional and physical safety of each participant.
We provide an outdoor, adventure-based mentoring program for participants aged 8-18 on the Sunshine Coast and Gympie.
Through outdoor adventure, our programs offer opportunities for participants to build a range of skills and behaviours. These include resilience and confidence, developing teamwork, building healthy and meaningful relationships, finding potential and becoming stewards of the environment.
Regular participation in our mentoring programs have shown an improvement in self-confidence, increased resilience and improved teamwork and communication. As well as enhanced problem solving skills, exposure to new experiences and perspectives and personal growth.

Our Participants
Our participants range from the ages of 8-18 and are often:
Struggling with self-confidence or low self-esteem. Adventure mentoring programs are a great way for participants to build self-confidence that may have been affected by bullying, comparison to others etc. by taking on new challenges, overcoming obstacles, and achieving set goals.
Disengaged or at risk of disengaging from school. Our programs offer an alternative learning environment that focuses on character building, teamwork, leadership and resilience to re-engage with school in a meaningful way.
Interested in outdoor activities. With the increased use of technology and screen time, adventure mentoring allows participants to participate in a range of outdoor activities in a safe and structured environment.
Lacking social skills and looking to make new friends. Adventure mentoring programs provide participants with the opportunity to meet others. This can be particularly helpful for those who may feel isolated or have difficulty making friends.
Struggling with behavioural issues or school avoidance. Outdoor activities are very beneficial for participants who are struggling with behavioural issues, such as aggression or low impulse control. Our programs provide a structured environment where participants can learn new coping skills and strategies for managing their behaviour.
